Blindman Case Study – A tragic woman

Introduction

There are many ways of reading bazi and traditionally, you first ascertain the “Day Master” (The day you are born according to the bazi calendar) whether it is strong or weak and from there derived the auspicious or inauspicious of various elements in the bazi. Traditional way of reading bazi was derived by a person called Xu Ziping (徐子平) at the beginning of Song Dynasty. His book, title Yuan Hai Zi Ping (渊海子平) which is like the bible of bazi, is widely used by many bazi scholar through out the centuries. There are also other ancient books that are being used by bazi masters and scholars. There are and not limited to: San Ming Tong Hui (三命通会), Di Tian Sui (滴天髓) and Qiong Tong Bao Jian (窮通寶鑑).

However, all these techniques require the strength of the Day Master (The day you are born) to be ascertained and there are many debates with regards to how it is being derived. Each master has their own way of deriving this and sometimes it causes ugly argument among the students on this.

There exist a way of reading bazi without actually having the needs to ascertain the strength of Day Master. This is also known as the Jiang Hu (江湖) (unorthodox) way of reading bazi. This method is known as the MangPai or the Blindman School of bazi. It is known as Jiang Hu mainly because there is no written text being passed down. More importantly, the practitioner has to be blind – that why no written text can be passed down! In addition, it was said that the disciple has to take a death oath that they can only pass the technique to another blind person. In short, if you are not blind, you won’t be able to learn the technique. Also, the blind master will ask the disciple to memorize a set of poems via oral transmission and until such time, will impact the key to unlock the message in the poems. Therefore, even if you know the poem (the poem is actually circulating on the net), you won’t be able to understand or use it without the actual key from a blind master.

One thing to note is that MangPai system has high accuracy in deriving events from one’s bazi. It uses 10 Gods (十神), the usual Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches clashes, combo, harms and punishment but the weightage of each are different between traditional bazi and MangPai system.  What’s make it powerful is there is a set of oral formula (口诀) that you overlay on top of usual 8 characters interaction.

MangPai has 3 ways of analysis:

• 理法 (lǐ fǎ)  - logical deduction
• 象法 (xiàng fǎ) – image deduction
• 技法 (jì fǎ) – skill deduction

Lǐ Fǎ (理法) is the basic principal of bazi. This is very similar to Zi Ping Bazi but there isn’t any need to find out the strength of Day Master and finding out your Useful God (用神). Basically, you look at the interaction (combination, clash etc) of your Bazi and from there categorized the bazi into any of the 4 categories: 富贵贫贱 (Riches, Honor, Normal  & Poor life)

Xiàng Fǎ (象法) is to look out for certain pattern in the bazi. This is similar concept to Zi Ping Bazi chart type but the way to derive is totally different. MangPai uses 10 Gods (十神) to look for certain image or pattern on certain pillar and how it interact with the Day Pillar to derive whether this person will be holding high post, has a lot of money, entangled in law suite or remain poor through out his/her life.

Jì Fǎ (技法) is the most difficult and highest level in MangPai. This is also most difficult to master and it basically encompasses the entire system of MangPai. From Jì Fǎ, the Blind Master can derive whether a person’s parent is still around, how good is one’s marriage, how many siblings the person has, the position of the person in the family etc. It was said that mastering Jì Fǎ will make you looks like a God.

Synopsis

The writer has extracted one case study (悲惨的女人 – a tragic woman) from the following Chinese book: 盲师断命轶例集 (example of analysis done by a blind master), authored by段建業 & 邢銘芬. This book documented how the blind master performed his analysis. The blind master name is 夏仲奇(xià zhòng qí) and the analysis is on a woman with poor life.

Analysis by Master Xia, the blind master

The analysis was done in 1990 by Master Xia. The name of the woman is Madam Zhang. She has an outstanding look, very friendly, intelligent and desire to learn. She gave good impression to everyone. One day, she went to look for Master Xia for a reading on her health. After providing her birth date and time to Master Xia, Master Xia using the流星赶月 (meteor catching up with moon) technique derived that her mother passed away at the age of 16 years old (1970 - Geng Xu), her father passed away at the age of 19 years old (1973 - Gui Chou), got married at the age of 19 years old and she had 2 daughters both with in-born sickness.

Master Xia subsequently predicted that:

• She is not close to her children (less affinity)
• 1992 (Xin Wei) - contacted kidney illness.
• 1994 (Jia Xu) -  divorce and the ex-husband has custody of the children
• 1996 (Bing Zi) in Zi or Chou month – meet a boyfriend, who is very much older than her and is a con-artist
• 1997 (Ding Chou) in Summer Season, relationship with boyfriend will end.
• Cannot survive past 1997 and after her dead, her eyes will not be in-take.

What’s really happen

According to the writer of the Chinese book, all events happened exactly as predicted by Master Xia. After she contacted kidney illness in 1992, her husband divorced her in 1994 and had custody of the children. She didn’t want to fight for custody due to her sickness. After divorce and during her illness, her daughters didn’t even come to visit her.

In 1996, at the height of her sickness, she was feeling miserable and lonely. She longed for someone to love her and take care of her. Subsequently, the write got his director friend (Director Xu), who is 15 years older than Madam Zhang, to pretend to be her boyfriend so as to fulfill her wishes.

In 1997, due to work commitment, Director Xu had to travel to another place and decided to stop the pretending with Madam Zhang. He left in Wu month (summer Season).

At the end of 1997, Madam Zhang passed away, donated her eyes for 80 thousands dollar and the writer passed the money to her kids. She passed away alone and with a lot of regrets.

Brief explanation

Bing Fire born in You Month as Death (死) Earth. Year Heavenly Stems Yi sitting on Kong Wang (空亡). Month Heavenly Stems Yi being restricted (克 – ke) by You. In addition, there is nothing to produce the Day Master. The rest of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches is Eating God & Hurting Officer (食伤) discharging Day Master and therefore not auspicious. Female chart with Hurting Officer (伤官), marriage will not be good, husband & wife not in harmony and children not filial. Therefore, for female chart, this will be a poor life. 

Why 16 years old mother passed away? Yi wood at Month Pillar is Direct Resource (正印) and being regards as mother. Yi wood sitting on Metal and Metal will restrict (克 – ke) Wood. Yi Wood becomes difficult to grow. In addition, her chart don’t have water, therefore her life will restrict (克 – ke) mother (In Chinese term, it means that this person will bring death to her mother). During luck cycle Bing Xu, no water to curb fire and prosperous fire burnt wood. In Geng Xu year, Yi and Geng combo moved Yi (mother), mother passed away.

Why 19 years old father passed away? Month pillar You Metal Wealth as Father.  In the chart, Wei & Xu dried up You Wealth. You Wealth being isolated and no affinity (援- yuen) with the person.  During luck cycle Ding Hai, Rob Wealth (劫财 Jie Cai) Ding appear and restrict (克 – ke) You. You tomb is at Chou, therefore, father passed away at Gui Chou year. (You tomb, which is Chou appear and You enter into Chou tomb)

Children are represented as Hurting Officer (伤官Shang Guan). In Bazi there is Chou – Wei – Xu – 3 punishment (三刑). That’s why her kids has inborn disease, also not filial & immoral character.

Why she got married at 19 years old?  This is because that year Gui Chou year is Officer Star year, Chou also Children Palace, therefore married and got pregnant that year. From 19 years old till 36 years old relationship with husband was not good. This is because during that period it is Hai & Zi Officer Star luck (官星运), primary chart Hurting Officer prosperous and Hurting Officer restrict (克 – ke) Officer. Jia Xu Year divorce because Jia Wood combo and move Ji Earth Hurting Officer. Xu, Husband Palace Fu Yin.

Bing fire character is noble and unselfish; Bing fire at primary chart is weak, also in luck cycle Ji Chou. In Ding Chou year, being discharged and can’t survive, therefore died during this year. Chou as children, means during dead time still thinking about children. Bing fire as Day Master also as eyes, therefore, sell away eyes because of kids.
